There is a variable most companies are missing in their models, it's the consumer. In order for real disruption to occur, the consumer is going to initiate the change. Zillow was successful because it was able to change the way consumers accessed data about homes.

I'm firmly convinced that the most consumer focused model is the next one to disrupt Real Estate in a big way. Nice article.

Exactly right. But what does a “consumer focused model” mean when intermediaries control and manage consumer data?

Craig Bromberg, it means you find a way to the consumer before they reach the intermediaries. A challenge, but not impossible, you just need the right motivation.

I believe if you empower the consumer and help them realize their actual value in the transaction, things have the ability to change. Only time will tell.
